Vince J. DiFonzo, CHA
Area Director and “Coach”

Vince DiFonzo is celebrated within the Meyer Jabara Hotels culture as a sound leader, conscientious teacher and excellent performer.

Vince began his hospitality career in 1983 with Servico, Inc. where he was the first Manager Trainee and eventually grew within Servico to become General Manager at the Hilton Head Inn in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.  In 1988, he joined Concord Hospitality to become Vice President of Food and Beverage.  During his tenure with Concord, the company acquired several new hotels where Vince led the efforts of re-positioning several new restaurants, catering facilities and nightclubs.

Vince DiFonzo joined the Meyer Jabara family in 1992 as the General Manager of the Holiday Inn Metroplex in Youngstown, Ohio.  Since his early days in hospitality Vince has unleashed his entrepreneurial spirit and his natural leadership skills.  During his tenure at the Holiday Inn Metroplex, the hotel received the highest recognition by Holiday Inn Worldwide for Excellence in Food and Beverage.

In 1996 when Meyer Jabara Hotels purchased the Christiana Hilton in Newark, Delaware, Vince accepted the position of General Manager.  Again his leadership flourished and over the years, the Christiana Hilton consistently ranked in the top 10% of the brand in guest satisfaction.  Today this Hilton is regarded as one of the leading first class hotels in the State of Delaware.  In addition, it is a great place to work, being recognized for three consecutive years as one of “The Best Places to Work” in the state.

His area of responsibility expanded in 2004 and he accepted leadership of the three Harbor Magic Hotels in the Inner Harbor of Baltimore, Maryland.  Two years later the company increased those impacted by his creativity and vision by naming him Area Director/Coach.  In his new role as a member of the MJH Leadership Team he coaches a region of hotel associates to perform at high levels of operational and experiential service by embracing the principles and tools of the unique Journey Culture.  He has been recognized with prestigious awards both inside the Company and the industry for his operational performance as well as his leadership practices.

Vince graduated Magna Cum Laude from West Virginia University with Bachelor of Science degrees in Business Administration and Political Science.  Today he still values learning, continually accepting new responsibilities, partnering with area universities as a guest lecturer, and receiving his Certified Hotel Administrator  (CHA) and his Certified Food and Beverage Executive (CFBE) designations.

Service is not just a word Vince uses in coaching hotel associates…he has been actively involved in a number of community and industry organizations serving as Chairman of the Delaware Hotel and Lodging Association, a member of the Boards of Directors of the Maryland Hotel and Lodging Association, the Greater Wilmington Convention and Visitors Bureau, the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce and the Christiana Rotary.  He has also served as a member of the Tourism Advisory Board for the State of Delaware.

Vince gains support and encouragement from his wife, Cheryl, and his two sons, Andrew and Vincent.
